3 ways to up your fruit intake

It’s so much easier to eat fruit in summer, right?

There’s none of this winter hibernation vibe going on with bowlfuls of comfort food.

The days are warm, long and beautiful, and we somehow feel more inclined to eat fresh, healthy foods.

Here are 3 very easy ways to bring the fresh fruity island vibes into your summer:

Chop chop chop

Sounds silly, but in our busy days, who has the time to stop and cut up a melon mid-morning? So, when you have the time after work or before you head to bed, peel, cut, slice, chop, dice your fruit for the next day and store separately or all mixed into one big fruit salad. This makes eating fruit the next day that much more convenient.

Really get into the smoothie making

Are you resisting making smoothies because you think it’s going to be such a chore? Well, all you need is a blender, plain yoghurt, almonds, fruit and you’re ready to go in under 5 minutes. Plus, you can take it to work if you don’t have time to sit and eat at home.

 Buy the berries

Berries are filled with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and are generally low in calories, so having these ready-to-eat bite size foods on hand as a snack make upping your fruit intake so much easier. Have them as is, add them to a tappas platter when you’re having your sundowners, jazz up your hot or cold breakfast by adding some blueberries, and chuck strawberries into your salads.

Or head to KAUAI for a whole range of tasty options made with scrumptious fruit. For the rest of November you can still get your hands on the beautiful Strawberry and Free Range Smoked Chicken Salad as well as a freshly squeezed Strawberry Juice mixed with fresh apple juice.
