This week’s beach feature is about another beach that falls on local shores and one of the quietest beaches in South Africa. Kosi Bay is a series of four interlinked lakes in the Maputuland area of KwaZulu-Natal. The lakes form part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is only several kilometres from the border of Mozambique. This beautiful, tranquil area is rich with wildlife, the Kosi River Mouth is even known as “the aquarium” because of the clarity of the water and the abundance of fish species. Because it is rather off the beaten track, it is not swarmed by tourists but instead stands as a hidden gem, waiting for eager explorers who don’t mind the mission.
