It’s almost Summer (in all parts of the country at least, as some are lagging a bit) and with is comes fun outdoor activities like The Galileo Open Air Cinema. This year, the cinema will feature in three different locations around the Cape: Kirstenbosch Gardens in Newlands, the V&A Waterfront on the Atlantic Seaboard and Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville. They also have a season at Makaranga, which is in Kloof in Durban but is closed in Summer. All locations are magnificent and offer movie goers a unique treat, away from the confines of the normal cinema.
Kirstenbosch will feature all-time classic films on Wednesday nights starting in November, the V&A has Thursday nights and Hillcrest Quarry has Tuesday nights. This means you can have a total of 75 outdoor movie experiences (if the weather plays nice and you take advantage of the early bird special season pass) or up to 25 at your nearest convenience. Back rests can be hired, vendors are set up along the edge of the lawn or in the case of the V&A, you can head to Kauai, grab your favourite wrap and smoothie and settle in for a great night under the stars.
It’s an experience not to be missed and many movies are suitable for the whole family.
Keep checking the website for details. Tickets can be purchased from Webtickets when the schedules go live later this month.
See you there!
