World Diabetes Day, on 14 November, is an initiative to create awareness of diabetes.
While the main objective is education and prevention, focus is also placed on how to manage the complications. This year Diabetes SA is hosting a Run/Walk in Cape Town, Pretoria, Durbs and PE. Last year’s event in the Mother City was great, and there were even massage tents at the end! In the exhibition areas you will be able to have your blood pressure, glucose levels and a whole lot of other things tested.
Type 1 diabetes requires on-going medication and monitoring, but those at risk of developing type 2 diabetes can prevent or delay its onset by changing their eating habits and exercising regularly. So what better way than by getting those trainers on and getting moving!
Head on over to www.diabetessa.co.za and check out the dates, sign up and have a fun day supporting a very worthy cause!
