Nothing beats waking up at the crack of dawn on a beautiful Summer’s morning, making your way over to the foot of a mountain trail and starting a journey in the fresh morning air. Although there are many a beautiful mountain around the country and the world, it is the city of Cape Town that is particularly lucky, having the very grand Table Mountain serving as an almost surreal back drop to the city. And there is Lion’s Head too.
When it comes to hiking Table Mountain and Lion’s Head, there are tens of paths available to visitors and depending on how much time you have available and what your level of fitness is, there is a path to suit. We’d recommend the Kloof Corner trail, which starts half way between Kloof Nek and the Cableway to start, or perhaps a Lion’s Head walk (skipping the chain section at the top for when you’ve had a bit more practice, then you can work your way up to more challenging trails like Skeleton Gorge and Devil’s Peak. If you’d like some more information on the glorious mountain, go here.
A note for locals: It is quite remarkable to discover how many of you have never hiked one of the paths or even been up in the cable car. Life is short, the weather is getting sweeter so perhaps this Summer
could should be it.
